Wednesday (15/03/2023) – Students of the Agricultural Extension and Communication study program held the opening of the MBKM Grant at the Karangturi Village Hall, Gondangrejo District, Karanganyar Regency. The activity was attended by village officials, representatives from each hamlet, field agricultural extension workers (PPL), and student supervisors. The opening activity was carried out to introduce the program that will be carried out while in Karangturi Village.
Karangturi Village MBKM students attended various programs, including the reactivation of the Village-level Women Farmers Group (KWT), the establishment a Farmers Community House (RUMAT) as a nursery, and product branding training as a support for MSME marketing in Karangturi Village. In reactivating KWT at the village level, MBKM Karangturi students collaborated with Karangturi Village Field Agricultural Extension (PPL) to complete administrative processes to supervise KWT activities. The following program offered is the processing of organic waste into organic fertilizer. This program is here to answer the problems of homemakers worried about the household waste that only rots in landfills. Therefore, training will be held for mothers to sort waste and turn it into organic fertilizer.
RUMAT is a Farmer’s Community House that can later be utilized by the Karangturi Village Women Farmers Group (KWT) as a learning facility related to plant nurseries. The main activity intended for KWT members is a vegetable nursery planned to be distributed in each house to realize the Sustainable Food Yard (P2L) program. The existence of RUMAT is expected to motivate the members of the Women Farmers Group (KWT) to carry out activities that can produce benefits for the members of the Women Farmers Group (KWT) themselves.
“Apart from vegetables, the hope is that Karangturi Village can be replanted with Turi plants so that they become their characteristics,” said Mulyani, Head of Karangturi Village
Until now, the construction of RUMAT has been carried out and is located on village-owned land. RUMAT, with a size of 8×6 meters, is estimated to accommodate as many as 15,000 seeds. The development of RUMAT is expected to increase members’ skills of the Women Farmers Group (KWT) to seed plants used by members and the people of Karangturi Village. If routine activities are carried out, there is an opportunity to become a nursery business at the village level to increase the economic level of KWT members and the people of Karangturi Village.
